| Mystery of Shenlong
No one really knows what or when the Shenlongs first appeared. They have become one of the most respected parts of Chinese Mythology. The Shenlongs are very respected and admired. Even today, there are people who love the mystery of the dragons, they find books, artwork, statutes and some even get tattoos of the Spiritual dragon that controls the wind and the rain. Worshipping these dragons for age old centuries has been very important in the Chinese Culture, the allure and the mystery make you respect the dragon more. But there are some people today in modern China who want to change the way the dragons are looked at. Though they are well respected some feel there is no place for them in the modern day. A Shanghi Professor began talking about how a dragon even the Shenlong had their place in mythology but they should be used to represent China any more. The dragon has become too commercial; the dragons are losing the mystery appeal because they are being used as a symbol of Eastern and Western Asia as well. But many Chinese believe in the mystery and the legend of the Shenlongs and the other dragons.
The Professor went onto say that the dragon symbols are offensive to the Westerners. He thinks that people who don’t know that much about the culture will associate the dragon with China or Asia as a Stereotype. But the draw is that the spiritual and celestial dragons are mysterious and people from all over the world wish to get a better understanding of the dragons giving them a whole new generation of people who can learn about the mystery of the Shenlong. |
