| Myths and legends
There are maybe several hundred Chinese Myths and Legends that have been told throughout history. There are many categories in which these myths and legends fall under. Here are a few that are categorized by Chinese Legends and Gods. There is the Houyi Shot the Sun, it is about the hero, Houyi who shoots the sun in the ancient mythology. Then there is the Chinese Ghost, The Gate of the Gods (a custom for the Chinese New Year), the Kitchen God (Traditional Chinese New Year), The Yellow Emperor, The Shennog, the Yao Emperor and the legend of Kuafu Chased the Sun. Then there are the mythologies that involve animals. The beloved and mystical Unicorn is said to have great healing powers, the Phoenix, the bird that never dies, you may have heard the term The Phoenix always rises. Then there are the myths about the Dragons, and then you have the Griffins, they have healing powers in their tears. Then you have the Chinese fables, like any fable they all have great stories and you always learn something. Here are a few you may want to catch up on. The Wu Yan and Su Lin, The Donkey of the Guizhiou, The Foolish Man buys shoes, the Power of Skirts, The Fall of a State, Dead horses and talents and Double Happiness. The Chinese culture brings so much information, whether in the form of a healing power or the role of dragons or in fables and myths. We can learn a lot about the history of China through their stories. |
